M.E.C. Srl was founded in 2018, combining extensive knowledge in the field of general mechanical design with a strong expertise in the sectors of friction shafts/rings and slitter rewinders.
Driven by the demands of a constantly evolving market, with new and increasingly advanced projects and machinery requested by our clients, we adapted accordingly to deliver something new and innovative that could enhance the performance of the machines we equip.
This led to the development of our three patents, introduced over the years, aimed at offering products that stand apart from those already long established in the market and that bring proven benefits to our clients.
Our strength lies in the technical consultancy we provide to our customers, our exceptional flexibility, and the customization we are able to apply to our already extensive range of products.
World wide patented
Design and sale of patented friction rings.
The locking elements can be rollers or balls, and the rings can be equipped with preload elements that ensure a secure core locking.
Our standard rings are made of aluminum and feature a patented bearing system that provides better responsiveness to rotation and prevents the ring from compressing, maintaining the highest possible concentricity.
If needed, the rings can also be produced in steel.

Design and sale of friction shafts along with related mounting components (felt, air chambers, bushings, clamps, nylon band).

Capability to produce friction shafts with diameters ranging from 18mm to 120mm, equipped with the most suitable friction rings to meet specific needs.
To facilitate production changeovers between cores of different diameters (e.g., switching from 3” to 6” and vice versa), we have presented in this patent application a solution in which an adapter is directly fitted onto the underlying smaller-diameter ring, acting as an adapter.
This approach reduces the need to purchase multiple carriers for different sets of friction rings, keeps the smaller-diameter friction rings permanently mounted on the shaft, and allows the adapters to be added or removed only when a production change is required, significantly reducing machine downtime. The smaller-diameter ring expands and locks into the adapter’s hole, making it integral with the adapter, which in turn engages with the core’s internal diameter.
The entire system functions effectively thanks to our "bearing-based" system, which prevents the compression of the ring that bears the weight of both the adapters and the reels.
